Google PlusYet Another Reason to Use Google+? Think ‘user perspective’ when considering a marketing spot on Google+. The newest feature helps to bring the user into discussion no matter how many ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ they may have.

From a user’s perspective, Google+ is pretty convenient and puts most communication at the fingertips. They can search a term, view the results page, and then begin a chat with the site of choice if the availability is there. What does this mean to you, the advertiser?

With such easy access to your site, you stand to get more attention. People today are ‘instant’ oriented. The ability to find an interesting potential answer to their search and ask a question or make a comment directly is just part of their world. They love it. If you don’t take advantage of this feature on Google+ you may be missing out on the opportunity to grab some customer business or at least get their attention, however brief.

“Join the Discussion”

This feature is new to Google+ and represents just one of their newest innovations. With social media constantly evolving, it pays to keep up. Participation is mandatory for those who want to be in the mainstream of technology and communication. Here’s how it works:

The searcher types in a term using the ‘#’ sign in front of the search term. Take ‘#Social Media’ for example. A box will then allow the user to make a comment about anything related to the subject. Others can now jump in and join the conversation by using ‘join the discussion.’ The link to the original search remains intact so the user can return when desired.

Google+ Join the Conversation

How is this different from posting on other social media sites? When a topic is discussed on Facebook, it’s good to look through the former comments that have been made so your comment is both relevant and is not a repetition of someone else’s similar comment. That’s not too bad where there are 3 o4 comments to look through. On a popular site or in a hot topic, though, there may be hundreds of comments that have been made before you ever saw the post.

One of the biggest downsides to using Google+ has been a feeling of isolation among users who may not have ‘friends’ to communicate with. This new service helps to eliminate that isolation.

Google+ ‘join the discussion’ lets the user type in a comment and be included in any discussion that is relevant. It’s not necessary for Google+ users to have any friends or connections at all to have endless discussions with any other users. It is actually a good means to make those who have not been necessarily active in social media feel welcome and involved.

If your business is not convinced that Google+ might be a positive step for your marketing plan, give it a second look and get familiar with all features from the user’s perspective.
